How we select our trainees
You will need to be enthusiastic and committed to working with young children within a school setting. You will also need to show that you have some voluntary or working experience within a setting or workplace that would support you in your future work within a primary school.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about teaching and will inspire all children that they teach to achieve the best that they can.
You will need to have very effective communication and interpersonal skills and be able to develop outstanding relationships with pupils and staff in school.
Minimum of GCSE Grade C / 4 in Maths, English and Science (or equivalent - as accepted by University of Sunderland)
University Degree of 2:2 or above.
Other requirements (on acceptance to the programme)
An enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Baring Service)
A satisfactory medical assessment
Relevant work or voluntary experience with children or young adults.
Following a successful application, you will be asked to attend one of our Trust schools or one of our partner schools for interview. The interview will usually consist of a practical activity which may include reading a story to a group of children, short written activities, group activities and a formal one to one interview. We will also require you to reflect on past or current working or volunteering experiences which you feel will support you in working within a primary school.
